Images of Light
Welcome to Images of Light: Lighting Cameramen and Crewing Facilities. Andy Halley is a freelance lighting cameraman based in Glasgow, central Scotland, although various filming projects have taken him throughout Europe and the USA (where he is free to work until 2007). Working alone or as part of a larger crew, his speciality lies in creating high quality features across a wide range of broadcast and corporate programming. Employed in the industry since 1985, Andy has built up a reputation based on his determination to go that extra mile thus ensuring his clients are completely satisfied. In 1985 Andy embarked on an ITV appreticeship as an electrician with Scottish Television. After completing this he joined the lighting department as a technician and console operator. This led to becoming a lighting gaffer on ITV network dramas such as Taggart, Doctor Finlay and McCallum implementing a wide range of lighting techniques with several directors of photography, giving him a good grounding in lighting and camerawork. A further progression was made to lighting director working both in the studio and on location. Andy then moved on to lighting cameraman and in January 1999 left Scottish Television to pursue a successful freelance career filming features, current affairs, news, sport and corporate ventures.
